Principal Message
Tansi,
At amiskwaciy Academy students’ success is at the center of our goals and plans. Our goals include their success at school and building the capacity for success in their future. We offer Cree as an option for Junior High and as a credit in High School. Our school embraces the traditional teachings from our Indigenous communities such as a Cree Morning Song, land-based learning, storytelling, sweats and feasts. Many of our teachings come from guest Elders and Cultural Facilitators that are carefully vetted by our own Indigenous staff and administrators to ensure safe and authentic Indigenous perspectives are being taught. Some of our students are finding success in their classes with cultural based projects and sharing their knowledge with their peers using technology. To prepare our students we have included a variety of new courses to our school such as Physics, Treaties and Sovereignty, Medicine Wheel Teachings, Artificial Intelligence, 3D Design and more. The staff supports the students’ hard work and skills to obtain the tools for their future jobs or post-secondary schooling. As a community we work to remove barriers that would impede progress for our students. You are an important part of our school and your child’s education therefore we hope to see you for breakfast or a feast as soon as it is safe to open our doors. We look forward to a year of excellence.
ay-hiy,
Terris Mah
